Abstract
When John F. Kennedy published his book Profiles in Courage, he gave a definition of political courage. 70 years after the publication of the original book, I hope to write a sequel that will continue Kennedy’s recognition of political courage into the decades that followed. My Fellows project will aim to write 4 profiles on politicians in America from the 1950s to the present day. By creating a collection of commendable politicians from the past seven and a half decades, I hope to inspire continued political excellence as younger generations engage in politics and to promote civic engagement in a time when government involvement is crucial.

Requirements for a Congressperson to Be Considered for this Project:

Meet the FellowMarcus is a senior and member of the Class of 2026 at Severn School with interests in political science, public policy, international affairs, government, law, and history. The idea for his project stemmed from his admiration of President John F. Kennedy's Pulitzer Prize winning book Profiles in Courage, and from his submission to the 2025 John F. Kennedy Profiles in Courage Essay Contest.
